## Academic

Welcome to the Global Enrichment Programme (GEP) Spring Discovery Camp 2027 at Epsom College Malaysia. This year marks a special milestone: 10 years since Epsom College Malaysia welcomed its first camp participants in 2017.

For 8 days, students aged 9 to 14 live and learn in a fully English-speaking environment, during the Japanese spring holidays. Mornings are small-group English classes; afternoons bring sports, STEAM and creative activities; evenings are for boarding life and new friendships. Throughout the day, students are encouraged to use English with confidence.

English from morning to night
From morning lessons to evening activities, campus life runs entirely in English. Teachers and house staff support your child all day so they think, speak and live in English. Classes are small and set by level, so complete beginners and advanced learners alike progress at their own pace. Ordering lunch, planning group work, cheering at sport: every moment is a chance to use real English.

English classes for every level
Before travelling, each student takes the online Oxford Placement Test (OPT), so we can place them in the right class from day one. The programme suits learners from A0 to B2.
A0/A1 (beginner): basic vocabulary, simple sentences, greetings and everyday communication, plus first steps in reading and writing.
A2/B1/B2 (intermediate): grammar, understanding the main points of texts and conversations, handling travel situations, describing experiences, and building towards fluent discussion and detailed writing.
At the end of camp, parents receive a progress report, with progress recorded against CEFR levels.

Afternoons of discovery
Afternoon sessions put the morning's English into practice: arts and crafts, STEM, singing, fun English activities, English reading, performance, poetry, sports and board games. Activities change each week.

Football, tennis or golf
Each camper chooses one sport and has one session a day with top coaches from LALIGA Academy Malaysia, Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia or GOLFZON Leadbetter Academy, all on campus. Beginners are welcome.

Evening activities
Sports: night tennis, badminton and basketball. Hands-on discovery: fun science and STEM, arts and crafts, cooking class. To relax: movie nights, quizzes and games.

Excursion day
A morning at Jumpstreet Asia indoor trampoline park, then on to the KLCC area to see the Petronas Twin Towers and learn about the history and growth of Kuala Lumpur.

British boarding life
Award-winning pastoral care: device-free evenings, house meetings, personal and social education, popcorn and noodle nights, and weekend outings. Epsom College Malaysia holds COBIS Double Beacon accreditation for student wellbeing and leadership.

Learning through doing
STEM projects, drama, storytelling, creative writing, public speaking and real-world problem-solving workshops build confidence in English while having fun.

Check-in from 2pm on 26 March. Check-out by 12 noon on 2 April. Timetables and activities shown are examples and may change.

## Questions parents ask

### What happens after I book?

We email you, and your account lists the camper profile and forms to complete before camp.

### When do you ask about dietary needs and medication?

After booking. You add dietary needs, allergies and medication to the camper profile in your account before camp.

### How will I know my child arrived?

We email you when your child is checked in at camp. On a chaperoned flight, the chaperone sends an update at each step of the journey.

### What if my child is unwell?

The school's Sanatorium is on campus, with medical staff on duty. We tell you the same day. A member of staff goes with your child to any treatment off site and stays.

### Who can collect my child at the end?

Only you or an adult named in your account. They must show identification.

### Who looks after my child?

Epsom College Malaysia boarding staff and the camp team, in the school's own boarding houses, with staff on duty through the night.

### What about allergies, medication and diets?

Add them to your child's profile after booking. The kitchen and the nurse plan for them before your child arrives. Medication is handed to staff at check-in in its original packaging.

### Can I talk to my child during camp?

Phones are handed to house staff on arrival and kept safely. House staff arrange calls home, and you can always reach the camp team.
