For young athletes who want a serious school and serious sport in one place: full-time boarding, the academies on campus, and a pathway to university with our team alongside.

## Full-time boarding at Epsom College

Epsom College Malaysia is a British boarding school on a 50-acre campus in Bandar Enstek, twenty minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. It runs from Early Years to Sixth Form with boarding from Year 6, and senior students follow a British curriculum through to A Levels, with the sports academies on the same campus, so training and lessons sit in one timetable rather than two lives. Single-sex boarding houses, each with at least seven staff, are the everyday, not an add-on.

#### Why boarding for an athlete

Daily training needs sleep, food and study within walking distance of each other. A boarder trains before school, eats in the dining hall, sits the same lessons as everyone else and does prep in the house with tutors, with no commute eating the evening. Weekends carry fixtures and tournaments, and the house staff know the schedule.

#### Academic standard first

An academy place never lowers the academic bar. Athletes take a full IGCSE and A Level programme, and coaches and teachers share one calendar so a competition never collides with an examination unnoticed. Where training and study conflict, the school decides with the family, not by default.

## Academy pathways

Three academies train on campus: Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia, GOLFZON Leadbetter Academy and LALIGA Academy Malaysia. A camp is the way most families meet them; a full-time academy place is the next step for an athlete who is ready to train daily around school. Coaches assess during camp and say plainly whether a full-time pathway makes sense, and what it would take.

#### What a full-time academy week looks like

Between ten and fifteen hours of coached training across the week, strength and conditioning sessions, video review, and competition on weekends in term time. Squads are small, so every session is coached, and each athlete has a written development plan reviewed with the family each term.

#### Assessment

An academy assessment covers technique, physical testing, attitude and a conversation with the family about goals. It happens during a camp or on a dedicated visit, and ends with a written view of where the athlete stands and what the next twelve months should hold.

## Scholarships

Epsom College Malaysia's published scholarships are ECM Libra Foundation full and partial awards for academically gifted students from across ASEAN, applied for directly through the foundation. The school does not publish a sports scholarship.

#### What that means for an athlete

A strong academic record is what an ECM Libra Foundation award rests on. If you have heard of an award through an academy, ask the admissions team to confirm it in writing before you rely on it; we are glad to put the question to them for you.

#### How to start

Write to the camp team and tell us the sport, the age and the current level. We arrange an academy assessment, in person at a camp or on a visit, and introduce you to the school's admissions team.

## The pathway, year by year

#### Up to Year 9

Broad sport alongside the academy: several sports, movement skills and habits, with the academy building technique and the love of the game. Competition is local and the training load is built carefully.

#### Year 10 and Year 11

The IGCSE years. Training becomes more specialised, competition regional and national, and the first conversations about university sport begin. Video and results build a record that recruiters can read.

#### Sixth Form

A Levels with a university plan: applications to the UK, the US, Australia and Asia, including sports scholarship routes, supported by the school's university guidance team and the academy coaches' references.

## Common questions

### Do I need to attend a camp first?

No, but it is the easiest way for the coaches to see your child train and for your child to see the campus. Many families first meet the academies at a camp.

### Which ages can apply?

The school runs from Early Years to Sixth Form and offers boarding from Year 6 (age 10). The admissions team confirms which year groups have places.

### Can international students board full time?

Yes. The school has boarding houses for international students, with visa guidance and chaperoned travel arranged through the same team that runs the camps.

### What does university placement look like?

Students leave with A Levels and, for athletes, a sporting record and coach references. The school's university guidance supports applications in the UK, the US, Australia and Asia, including sports pathways.

### Can my child stay at their current school and train at an academy?

Day places exist for families living nearby, and holiday camps suit families abroad. A full-time boarding place is the route for daily training around a British curriculum in one timetable.

### What happens if the sport does not work out?

The academic place stands on its own. An athlete who steps back from the academy stays a full member of the school.
